Vision Statement

Altona Primary School is committed to continuous improvement, centres its academic, pastoral and extra curricula activities on the primary philosophy that learning is a lifelong skill. Every member of the School Community has the right to learn and teach in a safe and supportive environment and the responsibility not to interfere with the learning and teaching of others. Innovative and relevant curriculum design and delivery complement effective implementation of clear and comprehensive policies.

Altona Primary School is well equipped to bring our students into our technology age with all classrooms having a minimum of four computers and an addition in 2008 of a new ICT Learning Centre. We focus on students enriching their learning environment with specialist ICT classes extending their classroom ICT component.

Altona Primary School creates an environment where the use of ICT is regarded as an integral part of our everyday practices within the classroom.  The potential for ICT to impact on the learning of our students and staff is acknowledged and supported by their use of technological tools such as Interactive Whiteboards, digital devices and the school’s sophisticated network of intranet and internet resources.

We focus on the task rather than the technology and use the software and hardware available to allow students to create, design, research, communicate and present information in an innovative way.  The students use this technology to make connections and become global learners.

Altona Primary School recognises that eLearning is an integral part of today’s schools and is innovative in its thinking and plans for the future. We aim to give students the ICT tools that will transform their learning forever.
