The market is extremely popular with the local residents and has attracted a big following from all over Melbourne. Come along and pick up a bargain or just relax in the great cafes along Pier Street or spend some time looking at the Altona Mural which captures the essence of this beautiful sea side Village just minutes from the City.

The Western Health Foundation

The Western Health Foundation is pleased to announce the west’s biggest community fun run, WalkWest, is back on Sunday 25 March 2018 at Footscray Park. Click here to view the flyer.

This annual event attracts over 1000 participants each year and comprises of a 2km, 5km and 10km walk or run along the picturesque Maribyrnong River. All funds raised from WalkWest help Western Health improve healthcare delivery to the people of Melbourne’s west.

While event participants take to the WalkWest route, those who remain in the WalkWest Village will have plenty of things to do to keep themselves entertained, including a live DJ, children’s activities, massage therapy and a large selection of delicious food and beverages to choose from.

We are calling on all local schools to join us for this fantastic community event, to help raise funds for the new Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s Hospital, which is currently under construction at Sunshine.

Funds raised from the event will help fund an Interactive Wall for families to use while they are in the waiting room in the Children’s Clinic. This will assist in creating a child-friendly, anxiety-free environment for the clinic, where patients will feel safe and welcomed. The waiting room plays a large part in the patient experience, as it is located in the heart of the facility. Part of that care is to keep patients and families engaged, entertained, relaxed and build a pleasant transition to the clinical examination.
