The next clean up will be on Sunday 23 June, 3-4 pm at the Louis Joel Art & Community Centre. Bring yourself, your family and/or a friend and let's make sure we're all very 'present' in our bright green t-shirts so people can see litter doesn't just magically disappear. Every little bit of help, cleans up our environment.
The families at APS are making a big difference. We hope to see you there on Sunday 23 June, 3-4pm.

Recycle with Mondo
Recycle With Mondo is a fun, simple and educational fundraising program presented by SCRgroup. This program supports Australian pre-schools, schools and clubs to raise thousands of dollars each year while diverting reusable items from landfill and providing global communities with affordable clothing and employment.
Since 2015, the program has reached over 40,000 students, saved almost 150,000 kilograms from landfill and raised over $25,000 for participating schools. It promotes sustainable behaviour for our future generations and raises much needed awareness on our throw-away fast-fashion lifestyle. Students are provided with collection and sustainability reports that demonstrates the positive impact they have on the environment when they reuse and recycle. It also equips students with important skills to make better decisions with their unwanted clothing and household items.
In 2019, SCRgroup is running a competition for the schools the collect the highest average kilograms per student. The top 5 schools that achieve this will each receive an additional $1,000 to go towards their fundraising.
We currently have two exciting recycling initiatives going at Altona Primary School. Our Environmental Captains have a program to recycle old mobile phones (and all accessories), ink cartridges, old batteries and mint tin cans. BLUE BOXES have been placed around the school; front office, OSHC, Learning street etc. Please place any of the above items into the boxes and the students will be bringing them to our local library for recycling.
The other initiative is run by the Parent Sustainability committee and they need your help to raise vital funds for our school and
It couldn’t be easier!
All we ask is for households to have a spring clean and clean out their wardrobes over the next few weeks/days and BAG any unwanted:
- Linen (sheets, doona covers, towels, blankets)
- Accessories (hats, scarves, gloves, belts, handbags)
This program helps raise money for our school, reduces waste to landfill, creates jobs and supports communities in developing countries at the same time.
A Mondo van will be at school on Wednesday 19th June to receive the items. We will allow items to be dropped off on the Monday and Tuesday beforehand (along with the Wednesday Mondo pick up day). No items will be accepted after this date.
