Recycle with Mondo

Recycle With Mondo is a fun, simple and educational fundraising program presented by SCRgroup. This program supports Australian pre-schools, schools and clubs to raise thousands of dollars each year while diverting reusable items from landfill and providing global communities with affordable clothing and employment.

Since 2015, the program has reached over 40,000 students, saved almost 150,000 kilograms from landfill and raised over $25,000 for participating schools. It promotes sustainable behaviour for our future generations and raises much needed awareness on our throw-away fast-fashion lifestyle. Students are provided with collection and sustainability reports that demonstrates the positive impact they have on the environment when they reuse and recycle. It also equips students with important skills to make better decisions with their unwanted clothing and household items.

In 2019, SCRgroup is running a competition for the schools the collect the highest average kilograms per student. The top 5 schools that achieve this will each receive an additional $1,000 to go towards their fundraising.

We currently have two exciting recycling initiatives going at Altona Primary School. Our Environmental Captains have a program to recycle old mobile phones (and all accessories), ink cartridges, old batteries and mint tin cans. BLUE BOXES have been placed around the school; front office, OSHC, Learning street etc. Please place any of the above items into the boxes and the students will be bringing them to our local library for recycling.

The other initiative is run by the Parent Sustainability committee and they need your help to raise vital funds for our school and

Beach Patrol Clean Day May 19th – APS families are making a difference and the number of Beach Patrollers are increasing…….

Hi all Altona Beach Patrollers,
The next clean up will be on 19 May, 3-4 pm at a DIFFERENT spot! We've been seeing quite some build up of litter around the Altona boat ramp (Altona Road) and dog beach area, so we thought it would be good to give that area of the bay some attention for a change! Keep an eye out for the Facebook post or show up on the day and look for our green banner near the blue pedestrian bridge right next to the sports club.

Bring yourself, your family and/or a friend and let's make sure we're all very 'present' in our bright green t-shirts so people can see litter doesn't just magically disappear. The new t-shirts might just make it in time so we'll be able to supply the smallest and larger sizes once again!

Also, did you already have a chance to see and share Beach Patrols test animated video? Definitely check that one out:

Further information can be found at

We hope to see you there on Sunday 19 May!
