In 2026, students at Altona Primary School engage in the following specialist subjects:

Students engage in Physical Education, Visual Art and STEM for one timetabled session per week across the whole year.
AUSLAN and Performing Arts run for a semester, with one session per week.
These lessons are delivered by highly skilled teachers in well-resourced classroom spaces.
Auslan (sign language) is delivered as a stand-alone subject, however all staff are enabled to authentically engage students with this as an additional language across all subject areas.

STEM and Digital Technology is also taught through classroom experiences connected to our inquiry topics and the wider curriculum.
Students at Altona Primary School experience lessons in computer and information technologies along with coding and robotics.
Along with the specialist subjects, students attend a library session once a week and also engage in a variety of experiences in our school grounds connected to termly inquiry topics.
