SPECIALISTS
In 2023, students at Altona Primary School engage in the following specialist subjects:
-
Music
-
Visual Arts
-
Physical Education
-
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics)
-
Auslan (LOTE)
Students attend Music, Physical Education and STEM for one timetabled session per week. AUSLAN and Visual Art are attended once per fortnight.
These lessons are delivered by highly skilled teachers in well-resourced classroom spaces.
Auslan (sign language) is delivered as a stand-alone subject, however all staff are enabled to authentically engage students with this as an additional language across all subject areas.
STEM and Digital Technology is also taught through classroom experiences connected to our inquiry topics and the wider curriculum.
Students at Altona Primary School experience lessons in computer and information technologies along with coding and robotics.
Along with the specialist subjects, students attend a library session once a week and also engage in a variety of sustainability experiences in our school grounds connected to inquiry topics.
